PETERSFIELD, Oct. 3.

BURGLARY AND CLEVER CAPTURE AT COWDRAY — On Saturday night last some one entered the house of Mr. J. Harrison, at the Causeway, near Petersfield, by breaking a pane of glass and opening the window at the back of the house, and stole one pair of top boots, one macintosh, some silver spoons, two shirts, and many other articles. As soon as the robbery was discovered, information was sent to Supt. Fey, who, with his usual tact in detecting robberies, gave orders to the constable stationed under him at Petersfield, to proceed to the different towns and villages in Sussex, on the borders of Hampshire, taking Liphook, Haslemere, Headley, Farnham, Holt, and Rocklesham himself, completing a distance of fifty miles by one p.m. and, we are happy to say, his orders and exertions were not without success, for the thief was captured in Cowdray Park, near Midhurst, by the constable sent in that direction, with the whole of the property on him. What makes the case more singular is that Mr. Harrison had his house broken into about three years ago, and a man was sentenced to four years’ penal servitude for stealing the very same boots and silver spoons. We hope Mr. Harrison will be more fortunate for the time to come. They were to be examined yesterday (Friday) before J. B. Carter, Esq.
