PETERSFIELD.

A DARING BURGLARY.—On Saturday last, James Hill and Susan Hill, were brought up for final examination at the magistrate’s office, before J. J. Carnegie, Esq., charged with burglariously breaking into the house of Mr. John Harrison, near Petersfield, on Monday night, the 15th instant, and stealing goods of different descriptions to the amount of £25. From the evidence produced, it seems the prisoners are natives of Brighton, and were in the town of Petersfield on the night previous to the robbery, making a great disturbance and pretended to be very much intoxicated, no doubt to avoid suspicion. But it appears, they did not escape the vigilant eye of our superintendent, Mr. T. Fey, for within two hours after the robbery was reported to him, he had the parties in custody, and nearly all the property in his possession. They were fully committed for trial at the next assizes.
